Showing Which Teams Have Accomplished the Most to Date

Ohio State and Oregon Are #1-2

BCS Report:  What Hopes Does Each Team Have for New Orleans?
  • 2 more undefeated teams fall, leaving only #1 Ohio St. and #3 Kansas (and #33 Hawaii, which is undefeated but also winless vs. the top-80:  Hawaii's schedule)
  • Ohio St. and #2 Oregon have accomplished the most of any teams to date
  • #4 (8-1) Arizona St., which has lost only at #2 Oregon, edges #5 (8-1) LSU, which, despite an impressive 4 wins versus current-top-25 teams, has played 3 of its 4 toughest foes at home and lost at #28 Kentucky
  • The top conference has been the SEC; the toughest schedule has been Washington's
  • (1-8) Notre Dame falls to #93, behind 92 teams that have the good sense to attempt 41-yard, game-winning field goals
  • Despite John Feinstein's effusive claims to the contrary, Navy's defeat of the Irish hardly made one think of Al Michaels at Lake Placid
